What is TopoMania?

TopoMania is a online excercise program for Geography. The excercises in the program are aimed at memorizing maps in a playful way.

The maps on the site are used to support your current Geography method or to assemble your own method.

The excercises use a score system to challenge the students. When elements on the map are new to the players they can ask for help using a hint system.

Maps are offered in a variety of ways:

  • As excercises with different game types
  • As videos
  • As webmaps and posters
  • As exams

You wil notice that after doing several excercises, knowledge of the map will greatly improve.

What kind of maps are available?

There are hundreds of maps available on the site. Most of them are compiled from requests of users. But all of the maps can be customized. And of course you can create your own set of maps.

Registered Users

You can view and play the maps on the site without registering. But to create your own maps you need to be a registered user. Registration is free of charge, and no credit card is needed. Benefits of registering are:

  • Create your own maps, copy and change existing maps
  • Create your own pages to publish your maps on
  • Highscores
  • Posting on the forum

Making maps and changing maps

You can make your own maps and publish them on one of your pages. You can also make copies of other user's maps and change them afterwards. You choose which items will be available on your map.

Group Accounts

We have two different kind of accounts and you can switch between them as you like. The first type is a Standard User Account. This account will mostly be used by students and home users. The other type is a Group Account. A Group Account is mainly used by teachers and allows you to invite members and make exams for existing maps.
